For my husband Adam, who tries so hard every day to be better than he is, even though he is already so good. Learning self-love is the hardest game in town if you’ve spent your life doing otherwise, but he’s doing it. He makes the impossible life I’m trying to lead possible.
For my beautiful girlfriendpartnerspice Jax, whose patience with my ups and downs is only matched by her generosity, kindness, and intelligence. She makes my life glow.
For my BFF Catherine, who knocks me out on a regular basis with her courage, humor, and complete inability to grasp how amazing a person she is. I can understand that, though, it’s kind of hard for me to understand how one person can contain that much awesome too.
For my hetero lifemate Chaos, who keeps stepping up to make new beginnings with me. Thank god he does, because what we have is so special and rare that I could spend the rest of my life trying to replace it and not even getting close.
For my mom Karleen, whose generosity and selflessness through the past year has truly blown my mind. She put aside every shred of bitterness and anger about the past to be right there consoling me and my stepmom when my dad died, and she’s been there for us ever since. Her resilience and strength stagger me.
For my stepmom Sheila, who gave my dad the most wonderful care throughout his decline, so far above and beyond what anyone could expect of one human being. I am endlessly, endlessly grateful that he had her, that we had her.
For my dad, who I miss every day, and was so lucky to have throughout my life.
For my clients and patients, whose kick-ass courage inspires me and gets my ass out of bed every morning. They are my heroes.
For all you guys who still read this after all these years. For old friends recently returned, new friends slowly forming, for school, for books, for everything, everything. I love my life. I love you all.
